Waaree Group Launches 300 MW Electrolyser Plant in Gujarat

Waaree Group, India’s largest solar PV module manufacturer, has taken a major step towards advancing clean energy technologies with the launch of its Electrolyser Manufacturing Facility in Valsad, Gujarat. The ground-breaking ceremony, held on February 10, marks a pivotal moment in India’s journey toward green hydrogen self-reliance. The facility will commence operations in Phase I with an initial production capacity of 300 MW, supporting the country’s National Green Hydrogen Mission.

The new alkaline electrolyser manufacturing plant is designed to serve industries such as steel, refining, transportation, fertilizers, chemicals, food, and power generation, helping these sectors transition toward low-carbon and sustainable operations.

Cutting-Edge Manufacturing for a Sustainable Future

Waaree’s facility will be equipped with advanced production technologies, enabling the manufacturing of high-efficiency, durable electrolysers. These electrolysers will be optimized for low power consumption, high performance, and minimal maintenance, ensuring cost-effective and large-scale green hydrogen production. The plant will also feature automated assembly lines for electrolyser stacks, enhancing precision and scalability.

Strengthening India’s Role in the Global Green Hydrogen Economy

Waaree has secured a Production Linked Incentive (PLI) for 300 MW electrolyser manufacturing capacity and 90,000 metric tonnes (MT) per annum of green hydrogen production under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) scheme by the Government of India.

By setting up this state-of-the-art electrolyser manufacturing unit, Waaree aims to:

  • Reduce India’s dependence on imported hydrogen production technologies
  • Strengthen the global hydrogen supply chain
  • Position India as a major player in the international green hydrogen economy

With this milestone, Waaree is reinforcing its commitment to clean energy innovation, advancing India’s green hydrogen ambitions, and paving the way for a sustainable, low-carbon future.
