Suchi Semicon, a leading innovator in semiconductor production, has launched Gujarat’s first Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Testing (OSAT) facility, marking a transformative moment in India’s journey to enhance its semiconductor manufacturing capabilities. This $100 million state-of-the-art plant is designed to produce up to 3 million chips daily, playing a vital role in reducing India’s dependence on semiconductor imports and strengthening its position in the global supply chain.
Strategic Vision for Self-Reliance and Global Competitiveness
The advanced 30,000-square-foot facility was inaugurated by Union Minister CR Patil and Gujarat’s Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi. It will provide critical assembly, testing, and packaging services to key industries like automotive and consumer electronics. This initiative aligns with the Indian government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat mission, propelling India closer to becoming a global semiconductor hub while generating employment and fostering innovation.
Chairman Ashok Mehta highlighted the company’s bold transition from textiles to semiconductors, saying, “Our venture into the semiconductor field evolved from modest beginnings in textiles. Yet, observing the widening gap in India’s semiconductor infrastructure inspired us to make this pivotal move. Our ambitions extend beyond mere chip production; we aim to ignite innovation within the Indian semiconductor domain, leveraging this facility to mitigate supply chain critiques and foster a sustainable semiconductor industry nationwide.” The company is also pursuing partnerships with global technology firms to enhance its operational capabilities and drive innovation.
