Suchi Semicon’s New Facility to Bolster India’s Chip Manufacturing Capabilities

Surat-based semiconductor company, Suchi Semicon, has unveiled plans to establish Gujarat’s first Semiconductor Assembly and Testing (OSAT) plant with a significant investment of $100 million. Slated for completion by November 2024, this state-of-the-art facility will initially cover 30,000 square feet and have the capability to produce up to 3 million chips daily, catering to industries such as consumer electronics, automobiles, telecom, and wearables.

Supporting Local Talent Development Through Strategic Partnerships

The project is expected to generate approximately 1,200 new jobs, providing a substantial boost to the local economy. As part of its commitment to fostering a skilled workforce, Suchi Semicon has entered into agreements with leading engineering institutions, including Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) and Gujarat Technological University (GTU). These collaborations aim to enhance skill development and prepare a new generation of highly trained professionals in the semiconductor field.

Positioning India as a Key Player in the Global Semiconductor Market

Ashok Mehta, Founder of Suchi Semicon, emphasized the strategic importance of this venture, stating, “Our investment is aligned with India’s growing prominence in the global semiconductor landscape. By reducing supply chain inefficiencies and leveraging advanced technology, we are poised to meet the increasing global demand while contributing to the nation’s economic growth.”

Co-Founder Shetal Mehta added, “This plant will not only set a new benchmark in regional semiconductor manufacturing but will also elevate India’s role in the global technology ecosystem.”
