Investment in Helmet Manufacturing Facility

Steelbird Hi-Tech India Ltd, a prominent helmet manufacturer serving renowned brands such as Hero, Honda, Yamaha, and Royal Enfield, has unveiled plans to establish a state-of-the-art production facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The initiative involves an initial expenditure of ₹100 crore, with a total projected investment of ₹250 crore aimed at scaling up the company’s manufacturing capabilities.

Boosting Production and Employment in South India

The upcoming Hosur plant will initially produce 20,000 helmets daily, contributing significantly to Steelbird’s overall output. This facility is expected to create approximately 2,000 direct jobs, fostering local employment opportunities. Currently, Steelbird operates six units in Himachal Pradesh and three in Noida. Additionally, the company is gearing up to launch a cycle helmet manufacturing facility, set to commence operations in late 2025.

Capitalizing on India’s Growing Helmet Market

As the leading player with a 40% share in India’s branded helmet market, Steelbird anticipates robust demand growth. “The annual demand for helmets in India is approximately 100 million units, but branded helmet production accounts for less than 30 million units, leaving a significant gap,” said Rajeev Kapur, Managing Director of Steelbird. He further highlighted the replacement demand of 34 million helmets annually, driven by the country’s 17 crore vehicles, alongside an estimated 40 million additional units from new two-wheeler sales.

South India, identified as a strategic growth region, is expected to contribute ₹500 crore to Steelbird’s revenue goal of ₹2,500 crore by 2030.

Expanding Legacy of Excellence in Manufacturing

Founded in 1964, Steelbird began as a producer of automobile filters before venturing into helmets and rubber components. In 2023, the company manufactured 8 million helmets and is on track to exceed 10 million units by the end of 2024, underscoring its commitment to innovation and market leadership.
