Jaipur-based RMC Switchgears has announced plans to establish a cutting-edge 1 GWp solar module manufacturing plant and module mounting structure facility in Badodiya Village, Chaksu Tehsil, Jaipur, Rajasthan. This INR 100 crore investment will not only strengthen RMC’s capabilities in solar EPC and IPP projects but also support its strategic goal of achieving backward integration by catering to internal project demands. The facility is expected to become operational by July 2025, with commercial revenues projected to begin in August 2025.
Strengthening Operations with Enhanced Ownership of RMC Green Energy
The project will be executed under RMC Green Energy, a subsidiary of RMC Switchgears, with RMC increasing its ownership in the subsidiary from 51% to nearly 100%. This move, achieved through equity infusion and a fresh issue of shares, aligns with the company’s vision of creating a comprehensive solar ecosystem. The new plant’s location, adjacent to RMC’s existing operational facility, will enable seamless integration, reduce external dependencies, and enhance cost efficiencies across ongoing and future projects.
Positioning for Market Growth and Renewable Energy Leadership
With its Vision 2030 strategy to become an INR 5,000 crore enterprise, RMC aims to play a pivotal role in India’s clean energy transition. The new facility will not only support RMC’s internal solar project pipeline but also tap into the growing market demand for solar modules and mounting structures. Commenting on the initiative, CEO Ankit Agrawal emphasized the project’s importance in innovation and sustainability, stating, “This investment positions RMC as a significant player in the solar module market, while reinforcing our commitment to delivering long-term value for stakeholders.”
By aligning with India’s renewable energy goals and participating in the government’s ambitious INR 9 trillion transmission investment, RMC is poised to solidify its leadership in green energy and renewable solutions.
