Oji India Opens New Corrugated Packaging Plant in Sri City

Oji India Packaging Pvt Ltd, part of the Japan-based Oji Group, has inaugurated its fifth manufacturing facility in India at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The advanced plant will produce corrugated boxes and related packaging products, with plans to employ around 300 people in the region.

Strengthening Presence in South India’s Industrial Hub

Spanning 43,000 square meters, the fully automated factory marks Oji India’s continued investment in meeting South India’s rising demand for eco-friendly, high-performance packaging. The facility will initially start operations with a team of 130 employees, scaling up to 300 as production ramps up.

The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of Oji Holdings Corporation President and Group CEO Hiroyuki Isono, Japan’s Consul General Muneo Takahashi, and Sri City Founder and Managing Director Ravindra Sannareddy. Notably, Oji becomes the 31st Japanese enterprise to set up shop in the Sri City Special Economic Zone, underscoring the area’s growing reputation as a major Indo-Japanese business hub.

Driving Growth Through Innovation and Sustainability

According to Isono, the new facility has the potential to set new standards in sustainable packaging while contributing to the region’s economic development. Sannareddy praised Oji’s investment, highlighting its role in enhancing supply chain resilience and supporting existing industries.

Oji India, known for its heavy-duty packaging solutions, already operates plants in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu. The Sri City plant aligns with the company’s global growth strategy, aiming to bolster industrial advancement in India while deepening economic ties between India and Japan.
