Modine to Launch Cooling Solutions Facility in Chennai

Chennai to Serve India’s Growing Data Center Industry

Modine, a global leader in thermal management solutions, has announced plans to open a state-of-the-art facility in Chennai, India, by mid-2025. This expansion aims to meet the surging demand for advanced cooling technologies in the rapidly growing data center industry. The Chennai plant will manufacture Airedale by Modine cooling systems for data centers and cooling modules for stationary power generation equipment.

This strategic initiative follows Modine’s recent investments in new manufacturing facilities in Calgary, Canada, and Bradford, UK, showcasing its commitment to supporting mission-critical infrastructure worldwide.

Supporting India’s Data Center Boom

India’s data center market has seen remarkable growth, driven by increasing economic activity, enhanced connectivity, and a skilled workforce. The Chennai facility will position Modine to serve hyperscale and colocation data center operators in India, Asia, and the Middle East. These operators require cutting-edge cooling technologies to optimize the performance of campus power infrastructure and data center halls.

Enhancing Capacity for Global Demand

The Chennai facility represents Modine’s second presence in India, complementing the company’s existing operations at Modine Thermal Systems India, which has been active since 2007. According to Matthew Powell, Vice President and General Manager of Air-Cooled Applications, the new facility will expand Modine’s ability to fulfill global orders for advanced cooling modules used in primary and backup power systems at data centers.

With this expansion, Modine continues to drive innovation in cooling technologies, reinforcing its position as a global leader in thermal management solutions.
