LOHUM to Invest 2000 Cr in Battery Material Plant in Krishnagiri

LOHUM Commits INR 2,000 Crore Over Six Years

LOHUM, headquartered in Greater Noida, has announced a significant investment of INR 2,000 Crore over the next six years in a new manufacturing facility in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. The company has secured a 65-acre site and plans to commence production at the 20-GWh plant within 18 months.

Phase One Investment and Production Goals

In the initial phase, LOHUM will allocate approximately INR 400 Crore over two years. The new plant is set to manufacture Cathode Active Material (CAM) for battery production, catering to major battery manufacturers such as Ola, Exide, TVS, and Amara Raja. The facility will also play a crucial role in recycling 20,000 tonnes of batteries annually, extracting valuable materials like cobalt, nickel, and lithium. The production will start at 750 MWh of CAM, with plans to gradually increase capacity to 20 GWh, beginning with an initial output of 5 to 10 GWh to support Gigafactories.

Expanding a Global Footprint

Founded six years ago, LOHUM has rapidly grown from a start-up to an industry leader, boasting a unique end-to-end in-house ecosystem for battery recycling, repurposing, refining, and CAM production. The company currently operates seven plants in Noida, one in Gujarat, another in Krishnagiri, and one in the UAE, solidifying its presence on the global stage.
