Lenskart to Invest ₹1500 Cr in Eyewear Factory in Telangana

A Game-Changer for Eyewear Manufacturing

Lenskart, a leader in the eyewear market, has unveiled plans for a monumental ₹1,500 crore investment to establish the world’s largest eyewear manufacturing unit in Hyderabad’s Fab City. This state-of-the-art facility will cater to both domestic and international markets, producing eyewear, lenses, sunglasses, and accessories at an unprecedented scale.

Co-founder Amit Chaudhary emphasized that this facility is designed to meet India’s rising demand for eyewear while positioning the country as a key exporter to markets in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. The announcement coincided with the first-anniversary celebration of the Revanth Reddy-led Telangana government, during which an MoU was signed with Industries and IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu.

Why Telangana? A Strategic Choice for Business Growth

Telangana’s investor-friendly environment emerged as the top reason for selecting the state, as shared by Chaudhary. He credited the government’s proactive support and seamless ease-of-doing-business policies as pivotal in the decision. A designated plot in Fab City has been identified for the project, with TGIIC Vice Chairman Vishnu Vardhan Reddy confirming its swift handover to Lenskart.

Economic Boost with Job Creation and Innovation

The manufacturing unit is projected to generate 2,100 direct jobs, marking a significant boost to the local economy. Beyond production, Lenskart plans to establish a Research and Development (R&D) center in Telangana, underscoring the region’s potential as an innovation hub in the global eyewear industry. This development not only strengthens Telangana’s reputation as an investment hotspot but also highlights the state’s progressive policies and advanced infrastructure as key drivers for attracting large-scale industrial projects.
