Havells India Ltd has unveiled plans for a significant investment of Rs 480 crore to establish a state-of-the-art refrigerator manufacturing facility in Ghiloth, Rajasthan. With a target capacity of 14 lakh units, the plant is expected to commence operations by the second quarter of FY27, reinforcing the company’s strategic push toward backward integration and scale efficiency.
Shift Towards In-House Production
Previously outsourcing refrigerator production, Havells India decided to transition to in-house manufacturing, as confirmed in a company statement. This decision follows an earlier disclosure made in August 2023, when the firm announced its exploration of establishing a new plant in Ghiloth. The finalized plan reflects an increased commitment, raising the initially proposed capacity from 10 lakh to 14 lakh units and boosting the associated investment from Rs 350 crore to Rs 480 crore.
Steady Growth and Strategic Expansion
The investment will be financed through internal accruals, enabling Havells to optimize production capabilities while benefiting from economies of scale. In its September quarter results, the consumer electrical goods maker reported a 7.5% increase in consolidated net profit, reaching Rs 267.77 crore, up from Rs 249.08 crore a year earlier. This development underscores Havells’ proactive approach to capitalize on rising consumer demand and drive sustainable growth.
