DhaSh PV Technologies to Invest ₹3.46 Billion in Karnataka Solar Manufacturing Plant
DhaSh PV Technologies has announced a significant investment of ₹3.46 billion (~$41.4 million) to establish a state-of-the-art solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing plant in the Sira Industrial Area of Tumkur, Karnataka. This facility will specialize in producing solar PV junction boxes, with an impressive annual production capacity of 50 GW. Additionally, the plant will manufacture 1,000 km of solar cables and fully indigenous diodes daily, underscoring its commitment to advancing India’s renewable energy sector.
Enhancing Local Supply Chain and Technology
Manjunath N Reddy, founder of DhaSh Group, highlighted the importance of this facility in building a robust local supply chain for solar components. “We currently depend on China and Taiwan for semiconductor technology, which we plan to bring in by 2025 to ensure all the junction boxes are made in India in the future,” Reddy stated. The facility will leverage advanced technology to produce high-quality solar components that meet international standards, thereby reducing dependency on imports and supporting the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Growing Investments in India’s Renewable Energy Sector
DhaSh’s announcement is part of a broader trend of increasing investments in renewable energy manufacturing in India. Recently, Grew Energy, a renewable energy venture of the Chiripal Group, revealed plans to set up a 3.2 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir, with an investment of ₹45 billion ($538.8 million). Similarly, Indosol Solar, a subsidiary of Shirdi Sai Electricals, has started producing PV modules in Ramayapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, with an initial phase investment of ₹13 billion ($155.78 million).
