Coca-Cola Major Investment for Expansion

Coca-Cola is gearing up to enhance its manufacturing prowess in India by setting up a brand-new greenfield plant in Telangana’s Peddapalli district. The global beverage titan is pouring in ₹700 crore via its fully-owned bottling wing, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB). Potential locations for this facility have been pinpointed, signalling a noteworthy growth spurt in the region.

High-Level Discussions and Government Support

This initiative follows a string of deliberations at Coca-Cola’s headquarters in Atlanta, USA. A Telangana delegation, featuring Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu and R&B and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, engaged with top-tier executives like Fiscal Policy Head Jonathan Rief. These talks culminated in the announcement of the new plant, underscoring the significance of fostering industrial growth beyond Hyderabad.

“This decision signifies a crucial transition of large-scale manufacturing capacities by multinational firms into the state’s hinterlands, promoting a more distributed industrial growth in line with the new government’s priorities,” stated Minister Sridhar Babu.

Ongoing and Future Investments in Telangana

Beyond the Peddapalli project, HCCB is on the verge of launching commercial production at its newly minted ₹1,600 crore facility near Hyderabad. This plant represents a hefty investment and is poised to substantially boost Coca-Cola’s production muscle.

Telangana already houses one of HCCB’s largest plants in Ameenpur, which underwent a ₹142 crore expansion in 2020. Additionally, in April 2022, HCCB inked an MoU with the state government, pledging ₹1,000 crore for a new greenfield plant in Siddipet. The establishment of the Peddapalli plant reaffirms Coca-Cola’s dedication to amplifying its footprint in India and aiding Telangana’s industrial surge.
