New Automatic Paneer Plant to be Inaugurated in Coimbatore
The Tamil Nadu Minister for Milk and Dairy Development, R.S. Rajakannappan, announced that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will soon inaugurate an advanced automatic paneer manufacturing plant in Coimbatore. This new facility, built for Rs 10 crore, aims to bolster dairy production in the region.
Subsidized Testing Equipment to Ensure Quality Standards Across Societies
Rajakannappan also highlighted recent improvements in milk quality testing, with 191 automated milk testing units worth Rs 1.07 crore now distributed to dairy societies and centers across the state. The equipment, provided under a 60% subsidy from the National Dairy Development Programme, allows for immediate quality recognition, enhancing transparency and trust for milk producers.
Boosting Dairy Production with Incentives for Quality
Each day, an average of 1.3 lakh liters of milk is procured from 7,524 members across 323 cooperative societies under the Coimbatore District Cooperative Milk Producers Union. To reward quality, milk producers have been receiving a Rs 3/litre incentive since December 2023, with an additional Rs 1/litre for milk containing a fat content of 4.3% and SNF (Solids-Not-Fat) of 8.2%. Through Aavin, the state offers 48 dairy products to consumers, including milk, ghee, and palkova.
