Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) has announced a significant new contract win, securing the main plant package for the 2400 MW Telangana supercritical thermal power project. Awarded by NTPC Ltd., this contract underscores the ongoing strategic collaboration between BHEL and NTPC, marking a major milestone in BHEL’s contribution to India’s power sector.

Extensive Scope of Work: Design to Commissioning

Under the terms of the contract, BHEL’s responsibilities span the complete lifecycle of the plant’s setup, covering design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, and civil construction, as well as erection and commissioning. The company has received a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) from NTPC, authorizing the initiation of essential engineering work on the main plant package of the upcoming Telangana Stage-II supercritical thermal power plant.

Strengthening a Long-Standing Partnership with NTPC

BHEL’s successful bid for the 3×800 MW Telangana Stage-II project reaffirms its position as a trusted partner for NTPC, having contributed over 57% of NTPC’s total thermal power installations across India. This project further solidifies BHEL’s pivotal role in enhancing the nation’s energy infrastructure, driving growth in India’s thermal power capacity.
