Atlas Copco Group has officially opened its new cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Pune, spanning 270,000 square feet. The plant is designed to produce a range of air and gas compressors — including CNG, biogas, and hydrogen models — as well as air dryers and medical filtration systems. This launch underlines Atlas Copco’s dedication to advancing technology and meeting the evolving demands of the Indian market.
Focus on Green, Efficient Operations
Incorporating Industry 4.0 standards, the facility blends smart automation with sustainability to drive both performance and environmental stewardship. Approximately 80% of its energy requirements will be fulfilled through a 1.3 MW rooftop solar setup, supplemented by reliable grid power. The plant is designed with rainwater harvesting systems, advanced cooling solutions to reduce energy consumption, and waste management processes that align with global best practices. Its ISO certification further reinforces the company’s commitment to operational excellence, high safety standards, and energy efficiency. This modern facility stands as a testament to Atlas Copco’s pledge to reduce its carbon footprint while delivering cutting-edge solutions to customers.
Empowering Local Workforce and Accelerating Market Reach
Philippe Ernens, President of the Compressor Technique Business Area, emphasized that the Pune facility will help the company shorten lead times, improve responsiveness to customer needs, and expand its product offerings in key segments such as clean energy and healthcare. “This facility enhances our ability to serve the growing demand in India and neighboring markets with agility and innovation,” he stated. Echoing this sentiment, Thierry Monart, Vice President & Managing Director of Atlas Copco India, highlighted the hub’s potential to create hundreds of direct and indirect job opportunities, foster local supplier partnerships, and enhance technical training for the local workforce. “Our investment in this facility is also an investment in the local community and talent pool, positioning India as a critical part of Atlas Copco’s global manufacturing and innovation network,” he added.
