Ambuja Investment to Significant Boost of Bihar’s Infrastructure
Ambuja Cements, part of the diversified Adani Portfolio, has announced an investment of Rs 1,600 crore to establish a 6 MTPA cement grinding unit in Bihar. The Warisaliganj Cement Grinding Unit is projected to generate approximately Rs 250 crore annually for the state’s fiscal revenue, creating 250 direct and 1,000 indirect jobs.
Commitment to Sustainable Development
“This investment by the Adani Group is a testament to Bihar’s growth potential and our commitment to fostering sustainable development for the people of the state,” stated Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The project will be executed in three phases, with the first phase of 2.4 MTPA, costing Rs 1,100 crore, expected to be completed by December 2025.
Alignment with State Growth Plans
Pranav Adani, Managing Director (Agro, Oil & Gas) and Director, Adani Enterprises Limited, remarked, “This investment aligns with the state government’s development programmes and our growth plans. The cement industry is witnessing healthy volumes due to the government’s infrastructure thrust, and Ambuja Cements is well-positioned to support sustainable infrastructure development in the country.” He added that collaboration with state authorities and local communities is anticipated for this and future projects.
The project includes provisions for future expansion at a lower capex, aiming to meet Bihar’s growing infrastructure needs in line with recent Union Budget priorities. This marks the largest investment by a cement industry player in Bihar, representing Ambuja Cements’ first venture in the state.
