In a significant development for the Indian steel industry, JSW Group has announced a partnership with South Korea’s POSCO Group to establish a state-of-the-art 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) steel plant in India. Sajjan Jindal, Chairman of JSW Group, emphasized the transformative potential of the partnership, citing India’s rapid economic growth and opportunities for sustainable development. Chang In-hwa, Chairman of POSCO, highlighted the complementary strengths of both corporations, with JSW’s manufacturing process and POSCO’s advanced technological capabilities creating a solid foundation for innovation in steel and energy. POSCO, a global steel giant headquartered in Pohang, South Korea, is renowned for its cutting-edge production technologies like the FINEX process, which minimizes environmental impact. With its ambitious carbon neutrality target by 2050, POSCO continues to lead in sustainable steelmaking practices.
