SBL Energy Opened a New TNT Manufacturing Facility in Nagpur

SBL Energy’s Expansion of Defence Export Capabilities

SBL Energy has officially opened a new TNT manufacturing facility in Nagpur, Maharashtra, designed to produce 3,000 tonnes of TNT (trinitrotoluene) annually. This strategic move aims to meet both domestic and international demands, notably enhancing India’s defence export strength. The plant is situated within SBL Energy’s 225-acre manufacturing complex in Yenvera, Nagpur.

Dedicated to Defence and International Markets

The inauguration was led by former Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar, alongside notable attendees such as SBL Energy’s CEO Alok Choudhari and President Divyansh Choudhari. This facility marks a significant step in India’s strategy to boost domestic TNT production, reduce import dependency, and improve cost-efficiency in defence manufacturing.

The plant is exclusively focused on exports, with plans to triple shipments to key markets including Australia, Europe, and the United States. “This new facility not only puts Nagpur on the map in global defence and exports but also supports India’s goal to significantly enhance its presence in the international defence export market,” stated Kumar at the event.

Strengthening India’s Defence Infrastructure

The establishment of this TNT plant is seen as a direct outcome of recent governmental shifts in defence and aerospace policies in India, fostering an environment that supports enhanced infrastructure and self-reliance in defence capabilities.

Sanjay Choudhari, Chairman of SBL Energy, highlighted the plant’s role in the company’s broader strategy to augment manufacturing capacity, introduce new products, and strengthen national defence infrastructure. Earlier this year, SBL Energy secured Rs 325 crore in growth capital to support its expansion efforts, underscoring the company’s commitment to advancing India’s industrial and defence sectors.
