Berger Paints Panagarh Plant Set for 2025 Commissioning
Berger Paints India is set to invest ₹2,000 crore in the establishment of two state-of-the-art greenfield manufacturing plants in eastern India, a move expected to enhance the company’s production capacity by 25-30%. According to Chairman Kuldip Singh Dhingra, the construction of the upcoming plant at Panagarh, Bengal, is on track, with all necessary approvals in the final stages. The plant is projected to be operational by the end of 2025.
Odisha Plant to Focus on Integrated Manufacturing
In addition to the Panagarh facility, Berger Paints is also developing a comprehensive manufacturing unit in Khurdha, Odisha. Spanning approximately 80 acres, this facility will produce paints, coatings, construction chemicals, and intermediates such as emulsions and resins. The Odisha plant, which will be a fully integrated unit, represents a capital investment of ₹1,400 crore and is anticipated to commence operations by mid-2027.
Capacity Expansion and Future Growth Targets
Berger Paints currently operates three factories in Bengal, with the new Panagarh facility set to absorb operations from the existing Howrah site. The combined capacity expansion from these new plants is expected to drive the company’s topline to ₹20,000 crore by 2029, a significant leap from its current market position as India’s second-largest paint manufacturer. Despite challenges posed by raw material inflation, the company remains focused on growth, having already adjusted prices by 2.5% this year to offset increased costs.
