Global fan and motor technology leader ebm-papst is deepening its presence in India with the launch of a new manufacturing plant in Chennai. Marking the company’s third facility in the country, this milestone reflects India’s growing strategic importance within ebm-papst’s broader plans for the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa (APAC & MEA) regions.
As part of this expansion, the company has secured a 57,600 m² (14.2-acre) site in Chennai. The initial phase of the development will cover 23,000 m² and represents an investment of €36 million (₹340 crore). Once operational, the new plant will improve responsiveness to local demand, enabling ebm-papst to deliver tailored solutions more efficiently across the APAC and MEA markets.
Driving Local Manufacturing and Job Creation
“This investment underlines our long-term commitment to India,” said Atul Tripathi, Managing Director of ebm-papst India. “By scaling up domestic production, we’re meeting rising demand from Indian customers while also contributing to the nation’s industrial ecosystem through sustainable employment.”
The new facility, slated for completion by the end of 2026, will create approximately 700 new jobs. The company sees this initiative as a major step in boosting regional self-sufficiency and building a resilient supply chain—core pillars of its ‘Local for Local’ manufacturing strategy.
